Recent Goodies

Here are a few recent custom wheel builds that came through. We've been building a lot of wheels here and these were a couple standouts. The first build is a Powertap G3 rear hub, Powertap front hub, HED C2 clincher rims and DT Aerolight spokes. The rear is 24 spoke and the front is 20. This wheelset came in a 1640 grams with rim strips. That is 220 grams lighter than the stock alloy wheelset from Powertap. These were built for a very lightweight rider. This build is appropriate for an every day wheelset for riders under 170 lbs. They are durable and could easily work for a heavier rider but we would recommend a higher spoke count for riders above 170lbs or riders who tend to be abusive with their wheels. Rider weight is certainly something to be considered when building a custom wheelset but someone's style of riding is also important. Some people ride with finesse and grace and take meticulous care of their equipment. Some riders break everything and are harder on their bikes. We have to take all this into consideration when we make a recommendation.

This pair of wheels uses White Industries hubs and Mavic's tried and true Open Pro rims. This pair is 28 hole front and rear and uses DT revolution spokes. The weight came is at 1560 grams with rim strips. The goal for this client was to get a maintainable, comfortable and lightweight wheelset. Rider weight was about 120 - 130lbs. We chose to lace the front wheel with a cross pattern to get a little more vertical give out of the wheel. A radial laced wheel would have been lighter but we wanted to be sure we had the ride character the client wanted before focusing too much on weight.

Here are a few other goodies rolling through the shop. The Bont Zero is a completely performance focused shoe. It's labeled as their "climbers" shoe but it's perfect for track and Time Trial. It is lighter and stiffer than the Vaypor and uses laces for  lighter, more secure set up. The Zero is a special order item though we do have a few in stock. We mainly focus on the Vaypor, Bont's top end road model. We've been extremely happy with the Vaypor and after about a year of use, I'm a super fan.

Here are a few of the saddles we've been having great feedback on lately.

We stock a lot of saddles and can get basically anything under the sun. Saddle choice is tough for some of us and the only way to really know what works is to ride something. If you hate your saddle or are hoping for something better, give us a call and we can set up time to go through all the different options out there. We keep a good selection of saddles from Selle Italia, Fizik, ISM, Cobb, Specialized and more.
