Sidi Ergo 3 and Genius 6.6 Speedplay Versions

Sidi has finally come out with a Speedplay specific carbon soled version of there Ergo and Genius shoes. The Ergo 3 is the newest generation or the Ergo shoes with a lighter, stiffer carbon sole. The standard three hole drilling version of the Ergo 3 also has a venting system in the sole that can be opened and closed. The heel retention system is also redesigned. The big deal is definitely the addition of a Speedplay specific sole for both the Ergo and the 6.6. This allows you to install the Speedplay cleat directly to the shoe without using the 3 hole adapter plate. This lowers stack height by about 3 to 4 millimeters. Lower stack height = more power and better stability. The overall quality of these shoes is just what you would expect from Sidi, pure perfection.

  1. Any idea how the new Sidi stack height for speedplay-specific sole compares with the same type of DMT sole? Sidi looks to have simply fabricated a carbon adapter plate that isn't much lower than the traditional one offered by Speedplay??? Appreciate any help as I really like my DMTs but will never forget the comfort of my first Sidis ; )

    Regards.

  2. Sidi did their homework producing that sole. It does have an extremely low stack height. My photo doesn't do it justice honestly. It does have to be built up a tad near the back in order for the mounting area to be flat as is required by Speedplay cleats. It's hard to say how DMT and Sidi are different but the Sidi sole is 4mm lower than running the adapter and you also get a better range of adjustment.
